SAD Nightmare!

It's 1:30am and I just had a bad dream. I dreamt that I went back to SAD (standard American diet)! I ate chicken, in my dream, and I think one of my coworkers said something about how it was weird to see me eating that. Anyway, I was sitting at my desk at work and I felt how I used to feel. I felt crappy, lethargic and I was about to cry. I said how I shouldn't have done that and how I wish I would have stayed on the raw vegan track. And then I woke up! It was one of those, "It was just a dream!" things.

I'm soooooooo glad that was just a dream! I'm glad I had that dream, actually. It was a definite reminder that I need to stay on the raw vegan path and that I'm doing what feels right to me.

Okay, back to bed now.

Pics of "My Firsts"

My first green drink! April 09

I made Natalia Rose's green lemonade from her Raw Food Detox book.

The recipe is:
1 head romaine lettuce
5-6 stalks of kale (I used celery)
1-2 apples (I used 1 Fuji apple)
1 whole lemon
the book says you can use ginger, too. I didn't have any at the time, but I'll use it next time.

It was good! It kind of takes a minute to get used to, but I can see drinking it. Natalia basically lives off this stuff!

My first raw (dehydrated) veggie burgers! March 09

Veggies held together by milled flax seeds and dehydrated. These were good!

My First Raw Apple Pie! March 09

The crust is made from soaked / chopped almonds. The filling is apples and pie spice. Good stuff! I took some to my grandma's and they (grandma, mom and my brother David) liked it! It was a little moist, though. I think I processed the apples too long, it came out more like apple sauce.

My First Shot of Wheatgrass (that I juiced)! Feb 09

That was good! It was sweet.

My First Soup! Avo Soup! Feb 09

This was REALLY good! Rachel liked it, too! The avocado and raw cord go REALLY well together.

My first flax crackers! Jan 09

These are good. One of Rachel's favorites that I make.

Update 4-2-9

As I've started before, I'm taking 09 to ease into a raw diet. I'm making different goals for each month.

January was all about cleansing.
February was no more fast food and soy milk / fake ice cream (from the store).
March was to try to eat a raw breakfast every morning.

My raw goal for April is to cut out flour and sugar.

Flour = no more flour in recipes or listed as an ingredient on products (like tortillas). When I say flour, I'm talking about white and wheat flour. Obviously I'll still use raw versions of flower (like almond flour). Note: I am making a couple exceptions that I'm not ready to let go yet (like Tofutti pizza and Amy's pizza). I'll wait 'till I go raw on 1-1-10 to cut those out.

Sugar = no more sugar in recipes or listed as in ingredient on products (like Sobe green tea). When I say sugar I'm talking about refined sugar like white sugar, high fructose corn syrup, etc. Obviously, I'll still use raw sweeteners (like agave nectar).

I took out all my flour and sugar from my cupboards today. Rachel gave them to her dad.

I weigh about 185 right now. My weight loss goal for April is 180. I'm sort of stuck between 180 and 185 right now, I keep going back and forth. I know I'll get down to 160 when I go raw, though!

I think I'm going to make my raw goal for May to frying things.

I think I'm going to make my raw goal for June to eat at least 50% raw everyday (since the year will be half over).
