URL Change and Long Time, No Post
Wow! I haven't written on this blog since January?!
I just logged into blogger.com and apparently they no longer support FTP hosting. So, basically I can no longer point this blog to thatoneguyonline.com anymore. I registered thatoneguyonline.com through godaddy.com 5 years ago and I bought 5 years. So, thatoneguyonline is about to expire, anyway (on 12-5-10 to be exact). So, I had 2 options: I could pay money to buy more years of thatoneguyonline.com and include this blog as a link. So, the URL would be whateverichose.thatoneguyonline.com. Or I can just point the blog to blogger.com. So, the URL would be whateverichose.blogspot.com. So, I went with the cheaper (free, actually) route and chose to go with blogger.com's server. So, as of today, the new URL for my blog is http://thatoneguyonline.blogspot.com/.
Okay, now that that's out of the way I can talk about my diet lol. Okay, it looks like I left off with failing on 100% raw and winning the Blendtec blender.
2010 has been a year of many dentist and dermatology appointments. At the beginning of the years I was like "I'm going to get some dental work and get back on Methotrexate". Umm... yeah it wasn't that easy. I'm not going to say the name of the dentist, but he MESSED me up! He gave me a filling down to the nerve. I kept going back to him and complaining, but all he would do is adjust the bite. He even replaced the filling which didn't help at all because my nerve was infected. After being in pain for a couple weeks I finally went to a dentist who knows what he's doing and I had to get a root canal. So, that was fun - NOT!
Also at the beginning of the year I went to my dermatologist to get back on Methotrexate injections (for psoriasis). After he put me back on Methotrexate, I got a blood test and it showed that my liver enzymes were high. When taking Methotrexate, you have to watch your liver enzymes because it can cause damage. I had to stop the methotrexate for a week, got a blood test and they were still high. I had to stop the Methotrexate for a month, got a blood test and they were even higher. I went to a gastroenterologist who told me I have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease or "fatty liver" from gaining weight (I guess). So, I went back to the dermatologist and they put me back on Methotexate since it was fatty liver and not Methotrexate that was causing the high enzymes.
Also! The dermatologist decided to test my vitamin D levels because I guess people with psoriasis need to take more vitamin D. They said they like to see vitamin D levels around 65 and I'm at 9! So, as of last Saturday I've been taking a vitamin D3 supplement. Unfortunately, there is no vegan form of vitamin D3 (other than sun), there's only vegan D2. Since I'm so low, I have to take D3. But since I have to do it, I have to do it. I don't eat, wear and try not to use animal products - but I guess I'll make an exception with this vitamin D thing.
So! After months of dentists and dermatology, my teeth are finally okay, I'm back on Methotrexate and I'm taking a vitamin D3 supplement.
Now, for my diet: So, yeah, I tried going 100% raw in January and failed miserably - again. For some reason after that happened I pretty much just said "screw it" and went back to eating all my fake meat, bread, fake cheese, fake this, fake that, etc. So, for about 6 months I really didn't give a crap about "the raw thing". Well, it's not that I didn't "give a crap", it's just that I wasn't feeling it that much. Now, as of July 1st I've been "trying" to eat as raw as I can. To be honest I could have been trying a little harder, lol. I'm pretty much just doing what I can with it. I wake up everyday with the intention of eating raw and then I just play it by ear. Some days I'm really into it and some days I don't eat raw at all. At this time, I'm not going to put a percentage on how raw I eat because it varies day by day. I would like to get to a point where I eat mostly or 75% raw.
I get on little kicks every now and then and starting tomorrow I'm going to try to get back on a green juice (aka green lemonade) kick again. Basically, you juice green stuff (like romain and kale) with lemon and ginger. I bought a green canteen to drink it out of at work and on the go.
I also haven't been going to the raw support group at Georgetown Market in the past few months either. I am going to start attending the meetups again. I went to one last night and it was fun! I missed talking to other people about the raw food diet. A girl who's into the blood type diet was there and she was making a lot of sense! I would really like to know my blood type so I can see what food is recommended for me (just for kicks). So, I'm going to try to find that out soon.
One reason I haven't been posting in this blog is because I'm more into my YouTube vlog. I recently posted an update on YouTube about what I've just typed. And here it is:
And here's the previous update:
In that video I talked about aiming for 50% raw and 50% macrobiotic. Well, macrobiotics is kind of boring. I was doing beans and rice for lunch and things like that. As stated in the 7-9-10 update I'm just doing the best I can with raw.
So, that's about it for now! I'm going to try to write in this blog more often! I promise this time, lol. I know some people don't have high speed (so they can't watch YouTube videos). And It's really fun to go back and read what I wrote a few years ago.
